Areebah Khan is an early-career Mechatronics Engineer based in Sydney with a strong foundation in Mechatronics Engineering and Creative Intelligence and Innovation.

With a strong interest in robotics, smart systems, and creative engineering, Areebah enjoys solving complex problems through hands-on design and innovation.

Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys baking, learning French, 3D printing, remote piloting, and facilitating STEM education outreach programs.

Curiosity ➜ Creation

I started engineering to turn my curiosity into tangible outcomes - creating meaningful solutions that solve real problems

Growing up, I loved sketching ideas, building with LEGO, coding in Python, and playing around with Arduinos. Pursuing Mechatronics Engineering felt like the perfect fit to combine my passions for both hardware and software.

In my schooling years, I participated in Tournament of Minds and Future Problem Solving, team-based competitions where creativity meets problem-solving. Later, I came across a degree called the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation which builds on these experiences. I was able to combine this with my mechatronics engineering degree - creating a perfect blend.

Over my university years, I gained experience through internships, projects, volunteering, and leadership roles, which has strengthened my skills in mechatronics and contributed to both my personal and professional development.

Silhouette Aerial

Silhouette Aerial is my personal creative media project - aerial photography and videography. Combining technology and creativity to create and document cinematic content from a different perspective. It serves as both a creative outlet and a platform for developing skills in remote piloting, drone operation, visual storytelling, editing and content creation.

The name Silhouette Aerial comes from the idea of a silhouette - the outline or shape of something without all the small details. Instead of focusing on every part, it highlights the overall form - a landscape, or composition, and what that looks like at a glance.

This connects to aerial photography and videography, where taking a view from above changes how we see familiar places. Streets, buildings and landscapes start to look like shapes, patterns and connections rather than individual objects.

Silhouette Aerial reflects this idea of seeing the world from a different perspective and capturing scenes in a simple, clear and visual way.
